Level 3 RN – ICU (Travel Contract)
Facility: W. W. Hastings Hospital
Location: Tahlequah, Oklahoma
Region: Cherokee Nation
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: August 17, 2026 (Tentative)
Schedule: 3x12 Night Shifts (36 Hours/Week)
Position Overview:
W. W. Hastings Hospital is seeking an experienced Level 3 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse to provide exceptional critical care services to both adult and pediatric patients. This is a travel contract opportunity within the Cherokee Nation Health Services system, ideal for ICU nurses with strong pediatric experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced critical care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients.
- Perform ongoing patient assessments and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor hemodynamic status and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and critical care treatments safely.
- Operate and monitor ICU equipment including cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and ventilators.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner EMR.
- Utilize the Pyxis Automated Medication Dispensing System for safe medication administration.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations.
- Adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols, including mandatory mask use within the ICU.

- Patient Population: Adult & Pediatric Critical Care
- Patient Acuity: Acutely ill patients with a wide variety of complex medical conditions
- ICU Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 2:1
- Step-Down Unit Ratio: 3:1
- EMR: Cerner
- Medication Dispensing System: Pyxis
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Mask Required: Must wear a mask at all times while working in the ICU
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of ICU Registered Nurse experience
- Pediatric ICU or Pediatric Critical Care experience is REQUIRED
- Active Oklahoma RN License or Compact RN License
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Current AHA ACLS Certification
- Current AHA PALS Certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification required
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and emergency response skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Skills:
- Experience caring for both adult and pediatric ICU patients.
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR.
- Experience working in high-acuity critical care environments.
- Familiarity with Pyxis medication dispensing systems.
