PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment type: Travel/Contract

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
ACLS
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Key Clinical Skills

Cardiac telemetry
PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown
Sheath removal
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Post-MI care
Pre/post cardiac cath care
Management of cardiac drips
Titration of cardiac drips
Chest tubes
External CPAP/BIPAP
Nasal cannula
Non-invasive airway management

Schedule Notes

Weekend requirement: 4 weekends per 4 weeks
Float requirement: follows unit rotation; not first to float

Preferred Experience

Arterial line management
Wound care / wound vac
Charge experience

Unit Details

Ratios vary by acuity
Typical ratios: 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5–6 for lower acuity
Unit orientation: 24 hours
Scrubs: Navy

Important Considerations

RTO after booking is not allowed
Call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation and DNR
Candidate must be available for interview within the next 72 hours
Every candidate will be interviewed
