Description

PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day, 3x12 hours
  • Weekly hours: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Key Clinical Skills

  • Cardiac telemetry
  • PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown
  • Sheath removal
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Post-MI care
  • Pre/post cardiac cath care
  • Management of cardiac drips
  • Titration of cardiac drips
  • Chest tubes
  • External CPAP/BIPAP
  • Nasal cannula
  • Non-invasive airway management

Schedule Notes

  • Weekend requirement: 4 weekends per 4 weeks
  • Float requirement: follows unit rotation; not first to float

Preferred Experience

  • Arterial line management
  • Wound care / wound vac
  • Charge experience

Unit Details

  • Ratios vary by acuity
  • Typical ratios: 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5–6 for lower acuity
  • Unit orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs: Navy

Important Considerations

  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation and DNR
  • Candidate must be available for interview within the next 72 hours
  • Every candidate will be interviewed
