Description
Labor and Delivery RN
Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Seattle, Washington

- Shift: Night, 4x12 hours
- Hours per week: 48
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Labor and Delivery (3 years of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with High Risk patients
- Ability to circulate
- Ability to provide newborn (NB) care including required newborn assessments (eyes and thighs)
- Ability to provide Vitamin K injections for the newborn
- Current supervisory references
- Proof of required certifications with submission
- Current NURSYS verification
- Active compact license honored in Washington
Required Certifications
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NIHSS
- NRP
Preferred Certifications
- ACLS
- AWHONN Advanced
- AWHONN Intermediate
Unit Details
- High-risk, high-volume labor and delivery unit
- Functions as baby nurse during delivery and continues newborn care until transfer to postpartum
- May float to postpartum, antepartum, and sister facilities that provide mother/baby care
- Uses electronic fetal monitoring
- Follows AWHONN guidelines
- Heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate are used on the unit
Scheduling Notes
- First-time travelers accepted
- Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Pre-approved time off is reviewed case by case
- Schedule is posted every 6 weeks and adjusted to unit needs
