Travel RN Assignment Summary – Med Surg / Tele RN

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry (2 West)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours/week (48-hour guarantees not available)
• Contract Length: Not specified
• Shift: 12-hour Days or Nights (6:45 AM–7:15 PM / 6:45 PM–7:15 AM)

Experience Requirements

• 2+ years of RN experience
• 1+ year of Med Surg/Telemetry experience
• Recent Level I or Level II Trauma hospital experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required

Required License & Certifications

• BLS (Required)
• ACLS (Preferred)

Unit Highlights

• 90-bed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:5–6
  • Nights: 1:6
• Common patient populations:
  • Pneumonia
  • COPD
  • Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)
  • Radiation/Oncology patients
  • Occasional post-op laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy patients

Clinical Skills

• Experience with:
  • Heparin infusions (non-titrated)
  • Lasix infusions (non-titrated)
  • Stable tracheostomy patients
  • BiPAP
• Telemetry monitored by dedicated monitor technicians (travelers are not required to interpret telemetry).

Scheduling & Floating

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Typically 2 of 3 major holidays
• Low Census: May be placed on low census on-call
• Floating: Required to Med Surg units, stable low-acuity ICU patients, and Renal Dialysis Unit (RDU)/clinic as needed

Additional Notes

• 100-mile radius rule applies
• Start dates are not flexible
• No blocked scheduling requests
• Maximum of 5 days of RTO
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Orientation: Hospital orientation, Epic/clinical education, and one unit orientation shift.
