Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our surgical services team. The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and assisting throughout a variety of complex surgical cases. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in multiple surgical specialties and excel in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Assignment Details
- Position: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Schedule: 4 x 10-Hour Variable Shifts
- Shift Start Times: Between 6:45 AM – 1:00 PM
- Contract: Travel Assignment
- Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends
- On-Call: Required
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and sterile.
- Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
- Maintain strict sterile technique and infection prevention standards throughout each procedure.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently.
- Perform surgical counts before, during, and after procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Prepare, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Assist with patient positioning, surgical site preparation, and room turnover between cases.
- Maintain accurate documentation according to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA (Required)
- Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of recent Surgical Technologist experience
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room protocols
