Job Responsibilities

As an L&D nurse, you will:

• Provide direct nursing care according to established policies and procedures.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, document, and communicate maternal and fetal conditions.
• Coordinate care among physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning.
• Use critical thinking and sound clinical judgment while working independently.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
• Follow standard precautions and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Unit Description

Labor & Delivery nurses care for mothers and newborns:

• Before, during, and immediately after childbirth.
• Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs.
• Manage labor pain, including epidural care.
• Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries.
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery and newborn care.

Scheduling Requirements

• Night shift: 6:30 PM–7:00 AM.
• Must be available to work up to 6 weekend shifts during the assignment.
• Must work holidays as needed based on department staffing needs.
