Job Description: Sterile Processing Technician (Travel Contract)

Location: Royal Oak, MI 

Contract Duration: 14 Weeks

Shift: Evenings (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)

Shift Length: 8 Hours

Weekend Rotation: Every Other Weekend

On-Call: Not Required

Key Responsibilities

• Decontaminate surgical instruments and patient care equipment following established infection prevention and regulatory guidelines.
• Inspect, assemble, wrap, and package instrument trays according to manufacturer recommendations and facility standards.
• Operate steam sterilizers and Sterrad sterilization systems while performing required biological and diagnostic testing.
• Assemble and prepare case carts with sterile instruments and supplies according to operating room schedules.
• Coordinate the timely preparation of instruments and equipment for scheduled surgical procedures.
• Maintain inventory, rotate stock, and distribute sterile supplies to hospital departments as needed.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, and customer service expectations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the department manager or supervisor.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through HSPA, or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through CBSPD.
• CRCST certification must be maintained in accordance with facility requirements.

Preferred

• Minimum of six (6) months of sterile processing experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.

Work Schedule

• Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
• 8-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities

Certifications:

• CRCST – Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), or
• CSPDT – Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
