Description

This is a Travel RN – ECMO Specialist position at a nationally recognized Children's Hospital. The nurse will primarily care for patients on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and will float between the CTICU, PICU, and NICU depending on where ECMO patients are located.

This is a highly specialized critical care role and is not a general ICU or PICU position.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the ECMO circuit continuously.
  • Adjust ECMO support to maintain adequate oxygenation and tissue perfusion.
  • Troubleshoot and replace malfunctioning ECMO circuit components.
  • Respond to emergency ECMO situations.
  • Administer blood products and fluids through the ECMO circuit under physician direction.
  • Monitor anticoagulation therapy.
  • Support early mobility for ECMO patients.
  • Collaborate with intensivists, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Float between CTICU, PICU, and NICU as ECMO patient needs change.
  • Document patient care in Epic EMR.

Minimum Requirements

  • 1 year of recent ECMO experience (Required)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience
  • Previous ICU experience

Preferred

  • 2 years Pediatric ICU (PICU) experience
  • Pediatric ECMO experience

The facility will consider nurses without pediatric experience if they have:

  • Strong adult ECMO experience
  • Solid ECMO training
  • Critical Care background
Travel RN – ECMO Specialist responsible for managing ECMO support in a nationally recognized children's hospital. Requires 1 year of ECMO experience, BLS, PALS, and a California RN license
