Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – NICU/PICU | Washington, DC

Assignment Details

• Specialty: RRT – NICU/PICU
• Contract Length: 13 Weeks (Option to extend up to 26 weeks upon request during the interview)
• Shift: Days – 3×12 Hours (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week (Up to 48 hours available; overtime applies after 48 hours.)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience required.
• NICU/PICU experience preferred.
• Pediatric experience strongly preferred.
• 3+ years of recent experience is strongly preferred for first-time travelers.
• Local candidates are accepted at the travel rate.

Required License & Certifications

• DC Respiratory Care License (Pending license accepted; processing time is approximately 6–8 weeks.)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• BLS
• PALS
• NRP preferred

Charting System

• Cerner preferred

Schedule & Facility Requirements

• 3 or 4 shifts per week
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required within the hospital and within scope of practice (no floating to sister facilities)
• Block scheduling is not available

Time-Off (RTO) Policy

• Maximum 3 shifts for a 13-week contract
• Maximum 8 shifts for a 26-week contract
• If requesting one full week (7 days) off, the contract must be extended by one additional week.

No RTO will be approved during the following periods:

• August 31 – September 6
• November 23 – November 29
• December 21 – January 3

• NICU and Pediatric Critical Care
• Emergency Department
• Mechanical Ventilation
• Ventilator Management
• CPAP/BiPAP
• High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Airway Management & Suctioning
• Extubation
• Aerosol & Nebulizer Therapy
• Oxygen Therapy
• Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Tracheostomy Care & Management
• Pediatric Respiratory Care

Preferred experience includes:

• Adult Critical Care
• High-Frequency Oscillator Ventilation
• Nitric Oxide (iNO)
• Inhaled Flolan
• Bronchoscopy
• Trauma
• Umbilical Blood Gases
• Basic EKG
• Troubleshooting High-Pressure Alarms
• Weaning from Mechanical Ventilation

• Night Shift: On-site parking – $70/month
