Registered Nurse (RN) – W.W. Hastings Hospital:
Location: Tahlequah, OK
Shift: Nights (12x3)
Position Summary:
W.W. Hastings Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care in an acute care hospital setting. The RN is responsible for assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care, administering medications and treatments, responding to emergencies, educating patients and families, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, high-quality care. Candidates must be comfortable caring for pediatric and adult patients and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and develop individualized patient care plans based on patient needs, diagnoses, and physician orders.
- Coordinate and implement nursing care while considering each patient's cultural, religious, psychosocial, and physical needs.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, respiratory treatments, and other prescribed therapeutic interventions.
- Monitor patient conditions, interpret clinical findings, and promptly report significant changes to physicians and the healthcare team.
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations, including initiating life-saving interventions when necessary.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and revise care plans based on patient progress and clinical response.
- Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, medications, treatments, discharge instructions, and preventive care.
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, patient responses, and care coordination in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Coordinate discharge planning and collaborate with case management to ensure continuity of care.
- Delegate appropriate patient care activities to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel while providing clinical oversight.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to nursing staff and support team members.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain adequate supplies and equipment while promoting a clean, safe, and therapeutic patient care environment.
- Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical nursing practice, and commitment to continuous professional development.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of Registered Nurse experience in an acute care setting.
- Active Oklahoma RN License or Compact (Multistate) RN License.
- Current BLS, ACLS, NIH, PALS and Stroke annual certifications.
- Experience caring for pediatric patients.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to successfully complete background check, drug screening, and all pre-employment credentialing requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work efficiently in a physically demanding, fast-paced acute care environment.
