Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: W.W. Hastings Hospital – Tahlequah, OK
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts
Position Summary:
W.W. Hastings Hospital is seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic respiratory conditions. The RRT will perform patient assessments, administer respiratory therapies, manage mechanical ventilation, respond to emergencies, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, evaluate, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary disorders from neonates through adults.
- Administer respiratory treatments, including aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, bronchodilator treatments, chest physiotherapy, and airway clearance techniques.
- Initiate, monitor, and manage invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) collection and interpret results to guide respiratory interventions.
- Conduct pulmonary function testing and bedside respiratory assessments as indicated.
- Assist with airway management, including intubation support, suctioning, and emergency respiratory procedures.
- Respond to respiratory emergencies, trauma, rapid response, and code blue situations.
- Provide respiratory care for pediatric and neonatal patients, including neonatal resuscitation when required.
- Monitor ventilator settings and patient response, making recommendations to physicians for appropriate therapy adjustments.
- Educate patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, medications, oxygen therapy, and home respiratory equipment.
- Document all respiratory assessments, treatments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Cerner.
- Maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring proper function and adherence to infection prevention standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies and evidence-based respiratory care practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 months of Respiratory Therapy experience.
- Must have BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.
- Pediatric experience is required nad must have cerner experience.
- Experience treating neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients with acute respiratory illnesses.
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical record preferred.
