Occupational Therapist (OT) – PRN
Location: W.W. Hastings Hospital – Tahlequah, OK
Schedule: PRN | 10-Hour Day Shifts (Saturday & Sunday)
Patient Population: All Ages (Pediatrics to Geriatrics)
Position Summary:
W.W. Hastings Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide PRN inpatient rehabilitation services for patients across the lifespan. The Occupational Therapist will evaluate, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans to help patients regain functional independence following illness, injury, surgery, or disability. The OT will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to promote optimal patient outcomes and safe discharge planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, sensory, and functional abilities to determine occupational therapy needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals, patient goals, and clinical assessments.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, upper extremity function, coordination, cognition, and self-care skills.
- Treat patients of all ages, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Perform functional mobility assessments, transfer training, adaptive equipment recommendations, and home safety evaluations.
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, energy conservation, and safety strategies.
- Recommend and train patients in the use of assistive devices, splints, orthotics, and adaptive equipment.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, case managers, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in discharge planning and recommend appropriate post-acute care services or equipment.
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, patient progress, and discharge summaries accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans based on functional outcomes and patient response.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, regulatory guidelines, and professional practice standards.
- Promote a safe, patient-centered environment while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards of care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Active Occupational Therapist (OT) License (Oklahoma or eligible for licensure).
- Current BLS Certification (AHA preferred).
- Experience in an acute care or inpatient hospital setting is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a PRN role and collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
