Description
Position: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) – Operating Room (OR)
Shift: 8-Hour Days (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Schedule: Weekday & weekend call rotation; holiday call as needed
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience in the specialty.
- 2–3 previous travel assignments required.
- Strong experience assisting in Orthopedic surgeries (required).
- Orthopedic/Neuro experience preferred.
- Active license required before submission.
- BLS (AHA) certification required.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA required.
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through NBSTSA required.
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant program.
- Driver's license address must be more than 50 miles from the facility.
- License history/issues must be disclosed at submission.
Facility & Unit Details
- Acute Care Operating Room with 14 OR suites.
- Average 28 scheduled cases/day plus add-on cases.
- Cases include:
- Orthopedics
- Neuro Spine
- General Surgery
- ENT
- Open Fractures
- Total Joints
- No Open Heart procedures.
- Vascular surgery services planned in the future.
- EMR: Epic
- Scrubs provided.
- No floating except to outpatient surgery if needed.
Submission Notes
- Only one active submission allowed across the WVU system.
- Previous permanent employees must have been away for 2 years.
- Previous travelers (worked 1 full year) must also have been away for 2 years before returning.
- Start date: Between September 14 and September 21, 2026.
