Facility: Telemetry – Boise Hospital (3rd & 7th Floors)
Experience
- Minimum: 2 years RN experience required
- Prior travel experience preferred, not required
- Must have:
- Post-procedural cardiac experience
- Cath lab patients
- Ablations
- Open heart/post-CABG
- Ability to read, interpret, and document telemetry
- Post-procedural cardiac experience
- Preferred:
- PCU/Stepdown experience

3rd Floor
- 20 beds
- Cardiac-focused telemetry
- Post-op open heart (POD 1)
- TAVRs
- Ablations
- Post-cath
- Pacemakers
- Medical telemetry
7th Floor
- 35 beds
- General telemetry
- Post-procedure overflow
- CHF
- Sepsis
- Electrolyte imbalances
- Post-stroke patients
Staffing
- Tele 3 & 7 pool staffing together
- Travelers should expect to float between both units
Ratios
- RN:Patient = 1:4
- CNA:
- 3rd Floor: 3 CNAs
- 7th Floor: 5 CNAs
- Typical ratio: 1 CNA : 8 patients
Certifications Required
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Drips
RN Titration
- Heparin
- Insulin (rare; training available)
Common Cardiac Drips
- Amiodarone
- Cardizem
- Dopamine
- Dobutamine
- Set-rate cardiac infusions
Respiratory
RT manages:
- High-flow oxygen
- BiPAP
- CPAP
- Breathing treatments
RN responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot equipment
- Assist RT if needed
Telemetry
- Remote telemetry technicians located on 3rd floor
- Nurses must:
- Read telemetry strips
- Interpret rhythm
- Document twice per shift
Charge Nurse
- Charge nurse on each unit
- Usually no patient assignment
- Crisis/resource nurse available when needed
Scheduling
- 12-hour shifts (7a–7p / 7p–7a)
- Schedule created every 6 weeks
- Travelers work with scheduler
- Flexibility expected to help fill staffing gaps
- Block scheduling not guaranteed
- Maximum of 5 consecutive shifts
- Night scheduler attempts to group shifts together
Weekend Requirement
- 5–6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Days: Saturday & Sunday
- Nights: Friday & Saturday
Holidays
- May work holidays
- Not expected to work every holiday
Floating
Travelers float first.
Possible float locations:
