Special Education Teacher – Secondary (Self-Contained Classroom)

Position: Special Education Teacher
Setting: Secondary School – Self-Contained Classroom
Schedule: Traditional K–12 School Hours
Contract: 40 Weeks

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Active or eligible state teaching license
• Appropriate Special Education endorsement
• Experience developing and implementing IEPs
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
• Knowledge of assistive technology and differentiated instruction

Responsibilities

• Provide special education services to students in a self-contained secondary classroom.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Serve as case manager and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
• Schedule and facilitate IEP meetings.
• Develop behavior intervention plans and monitor student progress.
• Prepare required documentation, progress reports, and service records.
• Collaborate with parents, administrators, therapists, and other school staff.
• Supervise and support paraprofessionals and other assigned personnel.
• Maintain accurate documentation and complete district billing requirements.
• Utilize research-based instructional strategies and assistive technology to support student success.
