Requirements:
- NY State RN license - Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in Oncology.
- 1 year experience in chemotherapy administration.
- BLS and ONS Certification Required.
Job Summary:
We're seeking an experienced Travel Oncology Registered Nurse (Oncology RN) for a 13-week assignment with a leading healthcare facility. The Oncology RN provides compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals diagnosed with cancer and hematologic disorders. This role involves administering chemotherapy and other oncology treatments, monitoring patient response, managing treatment-related side effects, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based care throughout the cancer treatment journey
Duties
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for oncology patients.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, blood products, IV fluids, and supportive medications in accordance with physician orders and safety protocols.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions, treatment complications, and changes in clinical condition.
- Manage symptoms such as pain, nausea, fatigue, neutropenia, and other treatment-related side effects.
- Perform central line care, including PICC lines, ports, and central venous catheters.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood transfusions as prescribed.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, side effect management, nutrition, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, case managers, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Adhere to chemotherapy safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and hospital policies.
