Description

This is a highly specialized role requiring hands-on ECMO management—not just bedside ECMO care. If you're an experienced ECMO specialist who can independently manage the ECMO circuit, we want to hear from you!

 

REQUIRED Qualifications
 

✅ Active California RN License or pending CA license with ETA

✅ Minimum 1 year of hands-on ECMO experience

Candidates MUST:

  • Independently "sit the pump"
  • Manage ECMO equipment
  • Troubleshoot the ECMO circuit
  • Have at least one year performing these duties

Please confirm before submission:

  • Can you independently sit the ECMO pump?
  • Do you have at least one year of ECMO pump management experience?
  • This position is not for bedside ECMO care only.

Preferred Experience

  • 2 years Pediatric ICU nursing preferred
  • Adult ECMO experience with strong formal ECMO training will be considered even without pediatric experience
  • Will float between:
    • CTICU
    • PICU
    • NICU
      wherever ECMO patients are located

Certifications Required

  • BLS
  • PALS

ECMO Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the extracorporeal circuit
  • Adjust ECMO support to maintain adequate perfusion and oxygenation
  • Troubleshoot and replace malfunctioning ECMO components
  • Administer fluids and blood products through the ECMO circuit under physician direction
  • Monitor anticoagulation therapy
  • Assist with progressive mobility of ECMO patients
  • Respond appropriately during emergent ECMO situations
