Description

Registered Dietitian – Hilo, HI

Location: Hilo, HI
Start Date: 09/14/2026
Contract Length: 26 Weeks
Schedule: 5 x 8-Hour Shifts (40 Hours/Week)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Weekend Requirement: Yes (Weekends Required)
Typical Days Off: Tuesday & Wednesday (Subject to Change)
Hours: No guarantee of hours or shift preference

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Dietitian for a 26-week assignment in Hilo, HI. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive nutrition care for patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations, working collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and food service teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct nutrition assessments and patient interviews.
Develop, implement, and update individualized nutrition care plans.
Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy for acute care, long-term care, and critical care patients.
Recommend and manage enteral and parenteral nutrition support.
Review physician consults and provide nutrition recommendations.
Educate patients and families on nutrition and dietary needs.
Correct menus and communicate dietary changes to kitchen staff.
Serve as a nutrition resource for food service management and clinical staff.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and ICU rounds.
Document patient care using electronic medical records.

Requirements:

Active Hawaii Dietitian License by the start of the assignment
Registered Dietitian credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
Minimum 1 year of clinical nutrition experience
Experience with nutrition assessment for pediatric through geriatric patients
Experience with Medical Nutrition Therapy in acute care, long-term care, and critical care settings
Knowledge of enteral and parenteral nutrition support
Experience with electronic medical records and nutrition documentation
Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
