Location: Decatur, TX
Facility: Medical City Decatur
Unit: Med Surg – 4th & 5th Floors
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 3x12s
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Experience Required: 1+ year

Compensation
Weekly Gross: $2,146/week
W-2 Hourly Rate: $25/hour
Weekly Stipend: $1,246/week
Position Overview
Medical City Decatur is seeking an experienced Travel RN – Med Surg for a 13-week night-shift assignment. The unit has approximately 60 beds across the 4th and 5th floors, with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 5:1 on the Med Surg Specialty floor and 6:1 on the Med Surg floor.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year of recent Med Surg RN experience
- Med Surg experience required
- Telemetry experience required
- BLS, ACLS & NIHSS required
- Strong clinical assessment and time-management skills
- Team-oriented, positive, and flexible
Preferred Skills
- Cardiac rhythm recognition
- IV start experience
- Strong time-management skills
Unit & Patient Population
The unit cares for a diverse Med Surg patient population and commonly handles:
- Abdominal procedures, including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, and colectomy
- Paracentesis and thoracentesis
- Heart catheterizations and run-offs
- Gastric sleeve procedures
- Total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements
- Orthopedic trauma and fracture repairs
Equipment & EMR
- Remote telemetry
- Capnography
- Alaris IV pumps
- Glucometers
- Dynamaps
- EMR: Allscripts (Alterra)
Floating
Mandatory float as needed to:
- Inpatient Rehab
- ED
- PCU
Travel RNs will not be assigned outside their appropriate skill level or scope of practice.
Additional Details
- Weekend shifts are required
- No on-call requirement
- Current scrub color: Black; transitioning to Medical City Blue
