Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join our cardiovascular surgical team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Cardiac, Vascular, Endovascular, and Thoracic surgery and be proficient in assisting with complex surgical procedures in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- RNFA certification required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of RNFA experience in a surgical setting.
- Experience using the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Required Experience (Hard Stop)
Candidates must have:
- Recent experience in Cardiac, Vascular, Endovascular, and Thoracic surgery.
- Current CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA certification.
Schedule & Call
- Shift: Days
- Weekend: Required only when on call.
- Call Requirement: One weekday call per week and one weekend approximately every four weeks. Call schedule is subject to change based on departmental needs.
Floating
- Must be willing to float within the facility, within scope of practice, and to the Main Operating Room (OR) as needed.
Start Date
- Candidates must successfully complete the privileging process prior to their start date.
- Estimated privileging timeline: Approximately 3 months.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-acuity surgical environment.
- Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety.
