Job Description – Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN)

The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Registered Nurse (Cath Lab RN) provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. The RN is responsible for preparing patients, assisting physicians during procedures, monitoring patient status, and providing pre- and post-procedure care while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality.

Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac procedures, including patient assessment and education.
• Monitor patients' hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythm, and vital signs throughout procedures.
• Administer medications, conscious sedation, IV therapy, and emergency medications as ordered.
• Assist physicians during cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, stent placement, and other invasive cardiovascular procedures.
• Recognize and respond promptly to cardiac emergencies and changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the Epic electronic medical record.
• Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float to Electrophysiology (EP) or Interventional Radiology (IR) within scope of practice as needed.
• Participate in the department's on-call rotation.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab RN experience.
• First-time travelers accepted.
• Active Alaska RN license preferred. Pending Alaska RN license accepted; however, the license must be in hand before receiving an auto offer.
• Required Certifications:
  • BLS
  • ACLS

Assignment Details:

• 13-week travel assignment
• ASAP start
• 4×10-hour Day shifts
• On-call required:
  • 1 weekday per week
  • Every 4th or 5th weekend (Friday 6:00 PM through Monday 7:30 AM)
  • Approximately 1 Saturday per month as part of the regular schedule
• Guaranteed 70 hours every two weeks
• Travelers may be called off for one 10-hour shift per pay period
• Floating to EP or IR may be required
• Block scheduling not available
• Travelers must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Only one time-off request is permitted during the 13-week assignment
