Description
Job Title: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) – Travel Contract
Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, high-performing Labor & Delivery RN for an 8-week contract on night shifts in South Carolina. The ideal candidate practices at the highest scope of labor nursing, providing comprehensive care to intrapartum patients while managing surgical requirements in the OB OR.
Position Details
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM / 12-hour shifts)
- Contract Length: 8 Weeks
- Schedule Requirements: Must be available for weekend and holiday rotations
- Location: South Carolina
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Patient Care: Conduct multi-dimensional assessments (physical, psychological, cognitive, socio-cultural, and spiritual), synthesize clinical data, and develop/revise dynamic care plans according to the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act.
- OB Surgical Duties: Act as the primary circulating nurse for OB OR procedures (C-sections, emergency surgeries); scrub OB procedures as needed.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Communicate directly with physicians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize clinical outcomes and patient safety.
- Patient & Family Education: Assess learning needs, deliver clinical instruction, evaluate educational outcomes, and involve family members in care planning.
- Advocacy & Compliance: Uphold ethical standards, protect patient rights, deliver non-judgmental care, and ensure full adherence to regulatory and quality initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Carolina (or Compact License).
- OR Skills:
- Required: Proven proficiency to circulate in an OB OR.
- Preferred: Experience scrubbing for OB surgical procedures.
- Scope of Practice: Advanced proficiency in high-acuity Labor & Delivery care, continuous fetal monitoring, and immediate postpartum/recovery care.
- Certifications: Standard L&D certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP, and EF protective credentials as required by health system standard).
