Special Education Resource Teacher

Schedule: Monday–Friday
Shift: Days
Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Contract Length:  40 Weeks (School Year)

Position Summary

The Special Education Resource Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher collaborates with general education staff, families, and specialists to ensure students receive equitable access to the curriculum and achieve academic and social success.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals.
• Implement accommodations and modifications as outlined in IEPs.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and related service providers.
• Support students with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team planning.
• Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Active South Carolina certification in Learning Disabilities, Multi-Categorical, or an appropriate Special Education certification.
• Strong academic performance in relevant coursework.
• Experience teaching students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom preferred.
• Experience supporting students with emotional disabilities/emotional impairments preferred.
• Experience with classroom instruction and behavior management.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license or reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as needed.
• Negative TB test required before employment.
