Travel RN – CVICU / Cardiovascular Surgical ICU
Johns Hopkins Hospital | Baltimore, Maryland
Join the Cardiovascular Surgical ICU (CVSICU – Zayed 5 East) at Johns Hopkins Hospital, an 18-bed high-acuity unit caring for complex post-operative cardiac and transplant patients.
Assignment Details
- Specialty: CVICU / Cardiovascular Surgical ICU
- Shift: A/P rotation or straight nights
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours/week
- Unit Size: 18 beds
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 or 1:2
- Orientation: 2nd and 4th Monday of each month
Required Experience
Candidates must have recent experience in a dedicated open-heart ICU receiving patients directly from the OR.
Must have current experience with:
- Post-op cardiac surgery recovery
- Mechanical ventilation
- CRRT
- Swan-Ganz catheters
- Epicardial wires and temporary pacemakers
- Vasoactive drip titration
- Level 1 IABP
- ECMO
Required
- Active RN license
- BLS
Preferred
- ACLS
- Critical Care certification
- Trauma course
- Epic experience
Patient Population
The CVSICU cares for patients recovering from:
- Open-heart and complex cardiac surgery
- Cardiac transplantation
- Lung transplantation
- Ventricular assist device placement
- Other advanced cardiovascular surgical procedures
Ideal Candidate
Strong fit for an experienced CVICU/Open Heart RN comfortable managing highly complex post-operative cardiac patients, advanced hemodynamics, mechanical circulatory support, and 1:1 critical care.
