Registered Nurse
Job Overview
- Location: Peoria, Illinois

Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- Able to interpret EKG strips
- Experience using arterial lines and central lines
- Proficient in care of ventilated patients
- Advanced knowledge in titrating vasopressors
- Must be able to titrate drips

- Negative drug screen for all panels
Unit Details
- MICU has 20 beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- PCT support is 1:10
- Unit commonly manages sepsis, ARDS, pneumonia, AKI, ETOH withdrawal, overdose, and COVID patients
- Telemetry is monitored by a tele tech, and nurses read and interpret strips
- Intensivist coverage is in house approximately 0700-1900, with telemedicine intensivist support and an attending on call after hours
Scheduling and Work Expectations
- Every other weekend required
- No call or standby requirement
- Travelers float first
- If floated to lower-acuity units, assignment may increase to 3 patients on stepdown or 4 patients on general medicine
- Scrubs are not provided
- Sweatshirts are not allowed
Orientation
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation
- Unit orientation includes 8 hours learning the charting system, 8 hours with an educator, 4 hours of shadowing, and 12 hours with a preceptor
