Description
RN Postpartum / Mother-Baby
Experience: 2+ years of recent experience required
Travelers: First-time travelers not accepted
Certifications: BLS, NRP required
Floating: May be required to float to NICU or L&D
Weekends: Weekend coverage required based on staffing needs
Unit Overview:
The RN will provide care to postpartum patients and newborns, including vaginal and cesarean deliveries. The unit also supports tubal ligations, circumcisions, GYN surgeries, couplet care, low-risk antepartum patients, and transition nursery care.
Key Responsibilities & Required Skills:
- Provide comprehensive postpartum care following vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Care for postpartum re-admissions and post-operative GYN patients
- Provide couplet care and normal newborn care
- Perform newborn thermoregulation and glucose management
- Administer and monitor blood and blood products
- Manage drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps
- Manage wound vacs
- Safely administer and monitor Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Provide post-op and post-vaginal delivery care
- Care for low-risk antepartum patients
- Support transition nursery operations
- Collaborate with NICU and L&D teams when floating is required
- Maintain safe, evidence-based patient care and accurate documentation
