RN PCU – Acute Leukemia & Hematology

Shift: 12-hour Days/Nights or 12-hour Rotating Days/Nights
Contract: 12D/N rotating contracts may include days, nights, or a combination based on department needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4 weeks and are subject to staffing priorities.
 

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of overall RN experience
• Recent Medical-Surgical Oncology (MS Oncology) experience required
• At least 1 inpatient Hematology/Oncology experience must be clearly demonstrated in both the resume/work history and skills checklist
• ONS Chemotherapy Certification required
• Experience caring for acute leukemia patients strongly preferred

Unit & Patient Population

This unit primarily cares for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients and provides high-acuity medical/PCU-level care. The unit has a significant volume of:

• Blood products
• IV antibiotics
• Electrolyte replacement
• Hematology/oncology treatments and supportive care

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS
• ONS Chemotherapy Certification

Preferred:

• NIHSS

Required Clinical Skills

• Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
• Telemetry monitoring
• Dysrhythmia interpretation
• Rapid Response Team activation and management
• Feeding tube care and management
• IV therapy and phlebotomy
• Blood product administration
• Central line blood draws
• Peripheral IV line care and management
• PICC line management
• Starting IVs
