Unit Details: 36–48 beds (mixed unit: 90% Med/Surg, 10% Intermediate Care)
Charting System: Epic (required)
Scrubs: Navy Blue

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (first-time travelers accepted if they have >1 year of experience and MUST have Epic experience)
Distance Requirement: Travelers must live at least 100 miles away from any Monument Health facility
Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Licensure: South Dakota Board of Nursing RN license (or compact)

Patient Ratios & Care Types

Long Length of Stay (MedSurg/No Tele): 1:5 to 1:6
Med Surg / Telemetry (No IMC drips): 1:5
Intermediate Care: 1:4
Common Drips & Titration: Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and occasional esmolol or other beta-blockers/antihypertensives

Th recruiters are super nice and helpful.

Cons

Lack benefits and perks other companies offer. Was incorrectly paid more than once. The assignment was the worst I’ve experienced from management down to housekeeping. They nitpick travelers on every level and give them double the respiratory therapist to patient ratio with every assignment spread over multiple floors and areas on every side of the facility. Staff makes no attempt at teamwork. Bottom line: Malone is ok🥴 but has MUCH room to improve. Elizabethtown, KY is awful and puts their patients and your license at risk every shift. Don’t do it!
