Description

Title: RN – PACU

Location: Midland, TX 79701

Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Days 5×8 — 40 hrs/week, 12:00 PM–8:30 PM
 

Requirements:

  • 2 years of PACU/critical care experience preferred
  • Previous travel experience required; first-time travelers may be considered with strong experience
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIH required
  • Strong pediatric experience required
  • Critical care experience strongly preferred
  • Level II Trauma experience preferred
  • Cerner experience preferred
  • Must have experience recovering patients from orthopedic, neuro, general, urology, dental, GYN, and pediatric ENT procedures
  • Experience with nerve blocks, chest tubes, central lines, intubation, arterial lines, and ventilated patients
  • Strong Phase I PACU and post-anesthesia recovery experience

Description:

  • PACU RN position in a 21-bed Peri-Anesthesia Services unit with approximately 30 patients/day
  • Recover patients following a wide variety of surgical procedures; all surgeries are performed except cardiac/heart procedures
  • Heavy surgical volume includes orthopedic, general, GYN, neuro, urology, pediatrics, ENT, and dental procedures
  • Must be comfortable caring for patients ranging from approximately 8 months to 100+ years old
  • Provide Phase I PACU care including airway assessment, cardiac monitoring, pain management, medication administration, and post-anesthesia monitoring
  • Manage patients with arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, nerve blocks, and other complex post-operative needs
  • Pediatric PACU experience is essential, including ENT, dental, and orthopedic cases
  • Nurse will also orient to Pre-Op Holding and provide coverage there when needed
  • PACU and Pre-Op Holding are connected; nurses may float between these areas but will not float to other departments
