LDRP Travel RN — Job Details
Shift & Schedule
- Shift: 12-hour Nights
- Schedule: 4x12s
- Hours: 48 hours/week guaranteed
- Shift Time: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- Weekend: Every 3rd weekend
- Holidays: As needed / depending on availability
- Scheduling: Block scheduling
- First to Float: Yes
Department
- Unit: LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum)
- L&D Beds: 4
- Postpartum Beds: 7
- Trauma Level: Critical Access Hospital (CAH)
- Setting: Acute Care
- Facility: Rural hospital
- NICU: More than 1 hour away; limited services
Patient Population
- Patients >35 weeks in labor
- Mother/Baby couplets
- Labor Ratio: 1:1–2
- Postpartum Ratio: 1:2–3
- Follows AWHONN guidelines
Experience Required
- Minimum 2 years of experience
- Strong teamwork, communication, independence, and clinical knowledge preferred
- Provider consistency is important
Certifications Required
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Clinical Responsibilities
- RNs are required to titrate drips
- Common medications/infusions:
- Magnesium
- Oxytocin
- Lactated Ringer's
- Zofran
- Prenatal vitamins
- Ibuprofen
- Acetaminophen
- Percocet
- Toradol
- Neonatal respiratory equipment:
- CPAP
- BiPAP
- High-flow
- Troubleshooting as needed
- EFM System: OB TraceVue
- Surgery handles C-sections; L&D nurses circulate for the baby
Charge Nurse
- Charge nurse present on each shift
- Charge nurse takes an assignment
Floating
- May float to MSP/ED as a helping hand
- Primarily for 1:1 patient observation/sitting
Orientation
- 3 × 12-hour shifts
Scrubs
- Provided by facility
Fit Testing / Facial Hair
- Facial hair requires successful completion of either:
- Primary fit test
- Secondary fit test
- Approved masks:
- 3M Aura 1860 (small/regular)
- 3M 1870+
- If unable to pass the standard fit test, a PortaCount test is required.
- PortaCount cannot be completed for clinicians with facial hair.
- PAPR cannot be provided on-site solely because of facial hair.
- If facial hair prevents required fit testing, the contract may be canceled.
Submission Requirements / Restrictions
- BSN: Not required
- License: Required to submit
- Radius Rule: 50 miles
- Candidate cannot currently be:
- Full-time
- Part-time
- PRN
- Working at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity
- RTO: Must be submitted upfront
- Maximum 7 days for a 13-week contract
- Additional RTO will not be approved after submission
