Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical
Registered Nurse (RN) Duties & Responsibilities:
- RNs will provide direct care to diverse adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, which include pre- or post-operative care, respiratory illnesses, infections, cardiac conditions, diabetes, renal disease, and orthopedic procedures.
- RNs will be performing comprehensive patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, providing patient and family education, and coordinating care with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Assess patients' health conditions and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patient progress and document assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
- Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other clinical procedures within scope of practice.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, infection control standards, and facility policies.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting safety and quality outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current, valid, and unrestricted CA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience in a Level 1 Trauma Institution in a metropolitan city with a diverse population.
- AHA BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIHSS Certification,
- MAB or CPI, LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City),
- Completion of the LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to the assignment start date.
- Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
- Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
