Description

Lead Medical Technologist (Lead Med Tech)

Location/Assignment Details

  • Position: Lead Medical Technologist
  • Openings: 1
  • Contract Length: 5 months through 12/31/2026 (likely extension)
  • Start Date: 08/31/2026
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, occasional Saturdays
  • Shift: 7:15 AM - 3:45 PM
  • Hours: 40 hours/week
  • Flexibility: Must be open to shift changes and schedule flexibility as needed

Required Qualifications

Certifications & Education

  • ASCP Certification (required)
  • MT or CLS certification (required)
  • Must qualify as a Medical Technologist under the Illinois Clinical Laboratories Code and CLIA regulations
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Technology program
  • Transcripts and certifications must be provided before submission

Experience

  • Recent hospital laboratory experience
  • Minimum 7 years of Hematology experience
  • Experience as a Generalist Medical Technologist
  • Previous Lead or Supervisor experience required
  • Experience preparing for CAP inspections

Technical Skills

  • Beckman Coulter instrumentation
  • Stago coagulation systems
  • Flow Cytometry

Cook County Health (CCH) DNR Policy:
Candidates who end their assignment early without completing the contract, or who fail to provide at least a two-week notice, will be designated Do Not Return (DNR) across all CCH facilities.
