Join a dedicated Labor & Delivery team at Norton Sound Regional Hospital in Nome, Alaska. This role is ideal for an experienced L&D RN seeking meaningful work in a unique, close-knit community while caring for mothers and newborns in a rural healthcare setting.
 

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum.
• Assess maternal and fetal well-being; monitor fetal heart tracings and recognize changes requiring intervention.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, newborn stabilization, and obstetric emergencies.
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments according to provider orders and facility protocols.
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate closely with providers, surgical staff, nursery/NICU personnel, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Float to other qualified units as needed based on census and facility needs.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Requirements

• Active RN license; Alaska license or eligibility to obtain Alaska licensure required.
• Minimum [2] years of recent Labor & Delivery experience preferred.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required.
• Experience with fetal monitoring and high-risk obstetric patients strongly preferred.
• Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and provide compassionate care in a rural setting.
