Requirements

  • 1+ year of recent ICU experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Michigan RN License – pending license accepted; must provide a concrete ETA at submission and proof of application
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • NIH
  • Holidays are required
  • No RTO during the first 2 weeks of the assignment

Patient Ratios

  • Overall ratio: 1:1–4, based on acuity
  • PCU/General Med/Transfer status: up to 4:1
  • PCU: 4–3:1, based on acuity
  • ICU/PCU mix: 3:1, based on acuity
  • Ventilated patients: 2:1
  • Cooling/CRRT/High Acuity: 1:1
  • Average of approximately 3 ventilated patients per day
  • ICU physicians may keep lower-acuity patients in the ICU when they determine the patient should remain under ICU care. Stable patients may be assigned in groups of 3–4 in these situations.

Schedule

  • Weekend: Every other weekend
  • Float: Will float to other ICU and Med/Surg units as needed
  • Agency RNs float in rotation with Bronson MICU RNs to Med/Surg units when ICU census flexes
  • Typical Med/Surg ratios: approximately 1:5–7

Cardiac Monitoring & Emergency Response

  • Interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
