About the Role

We are seeking a licensed Pharmacist for a contract assignment supporting pharmacy operations at Fort Yates Hospital and the McLaughlin IHS Clinic, part of the Indian Health Service Standing Rock Service Unit. This is a non-personal services contract position — you will work independently within your scope of practice and privileges to support safe, effective, and timely pharmaceutical care for IHS beneficiaries.

Responsibilities

  • Support safe medication dispensing practices and medication safety initiatives
  • Provide clinical pharmacy support: medication reconciliation, patient counseling, medication therapy monitoring, drug information, and clinical consultation
  • Accurately and timely document patient care activities in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Identify and report medication-related safety concerns, adverse events, and medication errors within required timeframes
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, staff meetings, and performance improvement initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, IHS policies, and facility procedures

Required Qualifications

  • Current, full, and unrestricted pharmacist license issued by a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia (no restrictions, suspensions, revocations, or voluntary surrender pending disciplinary action)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current tuberculosis (TB) screening documentation
  • MMR immunity documentation
  • COVID-19 vaccination documentation or approved exemption
  • Not listed on the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) List of Excluded Individuals/Entities
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States (E-Verify compliant)
  • Willingness to complete required IHS training prior to system access (EHR training, Privacy/Information Security Awareness, HIPAA Privacy, Rules of Behavior, workplace harassment prevention)
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI), if applicable
  • Reliable, professional, and comfortable working in a rural/critical-access healthcare setting
