Description
Polysomnographic Technologist – Sleep Disorder Lab
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: Monday–Wednesday, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM (3 consecutive night shifts)
Local Candidates: Candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible.
Required Certifications
- AHA BLS
- RPSGT – Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT)
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist/Sleep Technologist.
- Minimum 1 year of experience performing sleep studies.
- Current AHA BLS certification.
- Current, unrestricted RPSGT certification/registration through BRPT.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in sleep disorders, sleep activity, abnormalities, movement arousals, and respiratory events.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients for sleep disorder testing.
- Prepare, calibrate, and maintain equipment used for polysomnographic studies.
- Monitor polysomnograms and accurately document findings according to department policies and procedures.
- Identify and respond appropriately to sleep-related abnormalities, movement arousals, and respiratory events.
- Provide professional and effective communication with patients and the healthcare team.
