Weekends: Every other weekend — Sat/Sun for days
Scheduling: No self-scheduling; block scheduling generally unavailable
First to Float: Listed in the shift notes, although unit notes clarify the RN is responsible for L&D or Mother-Baby rather than hospital-wide floating.

👶 Unit Details

This is a small Family Birthing Center with:

• 4 L&D beds
• 8 Mother-Baby beds
• Approximately 45 deliveries/month
• L&D ratio: 1:2
• Active delivery: 1:1
• Mother-Baby: 1:4 couplets
• 2 RNs + 1 RT present for every delivery
• Charge RN generally does not carry an assignment, but provides break relief
• No nurse aides
• RT available 24/7
• No telemetry or vents
• Pharmacy staffed 6:30 AM–10:00 PM, with on-call/remote coverage afterward
• OB and anesthesia are on call overnight
• Hospitalist/intensivist available during the day

atient Population / Acuity

This isn't a major high-risk delivery center. They handle standard L&D, term/preterm deliveries, postpartum couplets, newborns requiring IV antibiotics or short-term oxygen, and general GYN patients.

They transfer mothers at 34 weeks gestation and below. Because it's a smaller facility with fewer resources overnight, they're specifically looking for an RN who is strong in emergencies and comfortable working independently.

Required Experience & Certifications

Minimum: 2 years of L&D experience
