RN – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry

LOCATION: Alexandria, VA 22304
SHIFT: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
HOURS: 36 Hours/Week
SCHEDULE: Every Other Weekend

Note: pay rate depends on local and travel basis—local pay: -$49 - $66/hr traveler

JOB OVERVIEW

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to adult patients in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry setting. The RN will care for patients with a variety of acute medical, neurological, cardiac, orthopedic, and trauma conditions while monitoring telemetry and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide direct nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical and Telemetry patients.
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes requiring intervention.
Provide care for Neuro/Stroke, Orthopedic, Trauma, and other acute medical patients.
Care for patients undergoing joint and spine procedures.
Manage patients with traction and external fixation.
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as ordered.
Monitor vital signs, pain, neurological status, and cardiac status.
Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and clinical emergencies.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
Provide patient and family education regarding treatment and discharge planning.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC.
Follow infection prevention, safety, and patient care protocols.
Float to Med-Surg/Telemetry, ED Holding, or IMC as required.

REQUIREMENTS

Active Registered Nurse (RN) VA state license
Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience
Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required
BLS Certification required
ACLS Certification required
EPIC experience required
Strong telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills
