RN – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
- LOCATION: Alexandria, VA 22304
- SHIFT: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- HOURS: 36 Hours/Week
- SCHEDULE: Every Other Weekend
Note: pay rate depends on local and travel basis—local pay: -$49 - $66/hr traveler
JOB OVERVIEW
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive care to adult patients in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry setting. The RN will care for patients with a variety of acute medical, neurological, cardiac, orthopedic, and trauma conditions while monitoring telemetry and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct nursing care to adult Medical-Surgical and Telemetry patients.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes requiring intervention.
- Provide care for Neuro/Stroke, Orthopedic, Trauma, and other acute medical patients.
- Care for patients undergoing joint and spine procedures.
- Manage patients with traction and external fixation.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as ordered.
- Monitor vital signs, pain, neurological status, and cardiac status.
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and clinical emergencies.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC.
- Follow infection prevention, safety, and patient care protocols.
- Float to Med-Surg/Telemetry, ED Holding, or IMC as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) VA state license
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience
- Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required
- BLS Certification required
- ACLS Certification required
- EPIC experience required
- Strong telemetry and cardiac monitoring skills
