ASL Educational Interpreter – 3rd Grade
Position: ASL Educational Interpreter
Grade: 3rd Grade
Start Date: 08/31
Schedule: 7:00 AM–2:30 PM
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Contract: 43 weeks
Position Summary
Troutman Elementary is seeking an ASL Educational Interpreter to provide 1:1 American Sign Language interpreting support for a 3rd-grade student throughout the school day.
The interpreter will remain with the assigned student and provide interpreting support as the student transitions through the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ASL interpreting services for the assigned 3rd-grade student.
- Maintain 1:1 support with the student throughout the school day.
- Move with the student to different classrooms and activities as required.
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers through ASL interpretation.
- Support the student's access to classroom instruction and school activities through effective interpreting.
Required Qualification
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher — REQUIRED
- Experience providing ASL interpreting services in an educational/school setting is preferred based on the nature of the assignment.
