Description
ICU RN – Nights
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Experience: 2+ years ICU experience required
Unit: 16 beds, expandable to 20
Ratios: 1:1–1:2
EMR: Cerner
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Floating: Required to Telemetry, typically 1:4
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
PALS listed in unit requirements
- CCRN preferred
ICU Acuity / Patient Population
High-acuity ICU caring primarily for adults with some pediatric patients.
Experience may include:
- Neuro / craniotomy patients
- CABG / cardiac surgery
- TAVR & EVAR
- Trauma
- Overdose / psych
- tPA patients
- Therapeutic hypothermia
- ECMO
- Impella
- CRRT – PrismaFlex
- IABP / balloon pumps
- ICP monitoring
- ECOS
- Pediatric DKA and minor pediatric critical care
IABP and CRRT experience are not required. Permanent staff primarily manage these therapies; experienced travelers may complete facility education and bedside check-off.
Unit Support
- Charge RN available and does not carry a patient assignment
- 24-hour intensivist coverage, on-call overnight
- RT available 24/7
- Pharmacy available 24/7
- Daytime IV team
- No nurse aides
- Draeger ventilators managed with RT
- Phillips telemetry
Floating
Travelers may float to Telemetry with approximately 1:4 ratios.
Travelers are noted as first to float based on staffing and census needs.
Weekends & Holidays
- Every other weekend required
- May need to fill gaps in the weekend schedule
- Travelers participate in the holiday rotation
- Holiday RTO may be considered but is not guaranteed
Orientation
- 2 ICU orientation shifts
- Expected to work independently beginning on the 3rd shift
Cancellation Policy
Facility may cancel:
- Up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
- Up to 3 shifts for contracts shorter than 13 weeks
Additional Details
- Scrubs: Navy
- License can be pending at submission
Strong fit for an experienced ICU RN comfortable with 1:1–1:2 assignments, complex cardiac/neuro patients, ventilated patients, and floating to Telemetry when needed
