Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist
Duration: 13+ Weeks + High possibility of extension
Location: Corbin, KY 40701
Shift: Day Shift: 3*12

 

Job Summary:
The Ultrasound Technologist provides diagnostic imaging services by applying sonic energy to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Performs ultrasound procedures, computer processing, and related techniques to produce high-quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist or licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment, maintains high standards of medical ethics, and recognizes patient conditions to provide appropriate care and ensure successful completion of examinations and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities:
Perform ultrasound examinations according to department protocols and established standards.
Produce high-quality diagnostic images for Radiologist review and interpretation.
Verify patient identity, orders, medical history, and exam information before procedures.
Continuously monitor patients throughout examinations and provide appropriate care and assistance.
Perform and document time-out procedures for invasive examinations or procedures.
Provide initial interpretation of exams as permitted by department protocols.
Assist Radiologists and authorized providers with examinations and procedures as needed.
Prepare copies of images and document image releases in the electronic health record (EHR).
Verify that images are properly archived to PACS and report any issues to the PACS Administrator.
Send images to the designated teleradiology service after hours as instructed.
Participate in image peer reviews with the Ultrasound Coordinator.
Assist the Ultrasound Coordinator and Radiologist with ACR accreditation activities.
Work with the Ultrasound Coordinator, Radiology Manager, and Radiology Director regarding equipment and software selection.
Report equipment malfunctions and environmental safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Coordinate equipment maintenance with vendors and the Ultrasound Coordinator.
Assist with EHR changes and workflow needs in collaboration with the EHR team and radiology leadership.
Monitor supplies and linens, place orders, and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Help manage department resources within established operational and financial guidelines.
Stay current with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and changes affecting ultrasound services.
Document patient-care incidents, medications administered, and other required information in the EHR.
Coordinate patient examinations with nursing units and transportation services.
Maintain effective patient flow and assist with daily staff scheduling and planning.
Provide supervision and instruction to ultrasound students during clinical rotations.
Assist with training new employees on equipment functionality, examination protocols, and exam modifications.
Maintain positive and professional relationships with coworkers, physicians, patients, and other departments.
Follow all hospital policies, departmental procedures, infection-control requirements, and safety guidelines.
Participate in required safety, emergency preparedness, disaster, fire, and Life Safety Program activities.
Attend required training, development programs, and departmental meetings.
Follow hospital and departmental dress codes and use appropriate safety equipment.

 

Required Skills & Experience:
Less than one (1) year of experience required.
Strong written, verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a professional, respectful, and cooperative work environment.
Strong customer-service skills with the ability to address patient questions and concerns professionally.

Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule when required.
Computer proficiency, including the ability to collect, analyze, and utilize computerized data.
Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and regulatory compliance.

 

Preferred Skills & Experience:
One (1) to two (2) years of experience in Special Imaging/Ultrasound preferred.

 

Education Required:-
Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Sonography program.

Certifications & Licensure Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
One of the following:
ARDMS – Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Abdomen certification; **OR**
ARDMS – Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification.

Education Required:- Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Sonography program. Certifications & Licensure Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) One of the following: ARDMS – Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Abdomen certification; **OR** ARDMS – Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification.
