Behavioral Health Registered Nurse – Nights
Location: Burkeville, Virginia
Job Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: September 10
Hours: 40 hours/week
Shift: Nights
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care to an older adult psychiatric population in a specialized behavioral health setting.
This opportunity is ideal for an RN with strong behavioral health and geriatric experience who is comfortable caring for patients with complex psychiatric, neurocognitive, and medical needs.
Schedule
- 40 hours/week
- 2x12s: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- 2x8s: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Night shift
- 13-week contract
Patient Population
The facility serves individuals 65 years and older.
Patient population is approximately:
- 50% psychiatric disorders
- 50% neurocognitive disorders with behavioral disturbance
- Many patients have multiple medical comorbidities and functional impairments
- Patients may require extensive assistance with ADLs
- Approximately 10% of the population is forensic
Patient Ratios
- RN: 1:34 on long-term units / 1:19 on admission units
- LPN: 1:17
- CNA/DSA: 1:5 or 1:7 depending on the unit
Requirements
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience – required for travel consideration
- Behavioral Health experience
- Geriatric experience
- Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license
- AHA BLS
Preferred:
- Psychiatric experience
- Med-Surg experience
- Previous travel experience is not required

This is a specialized behavioral health facility focused on providing high-quality treatment to older adults. The facility has been awarded the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval and is committed to geriatric psychiatry, patient-centered care, and improving patients' health and quality of life.
Assignment Details
- Facility Size: 123 beds
- Scrubs: Any color; must be clean, ironed, not tight-fitting, and free of inappropriate text or images
- Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 7 days
- Interview Availability: Must be provided with submission
- Travel Experience: Not required
Pay Package
Estimated Gross Weekly Pay: $2,526/week
- Taxable Hourly: $32/hr
- Overtime: $48/hr
- Taxable Weekly Pay: $1,280
- Housing Per Diem: $1,246/week
- Estimated Gross Weekly: $2,526
