Contract Length: 22–26 weeks
Position: Full-Time RN
Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts | Day/Night variable
Hours: 36 hours/week
Position Overview
Geneva General Hospital is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time extended contract on the 3 North medical-surgical unit.
The 3 North RN provides high-quality, compassionate care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients with medical conditions. The RN assesses patient needs, develops individualized plans of care, provides direct nursing interventions, evaluates patient progress, coordinates interdisciplinary care, and supports patients and families throughout the hospitalization and discharge process.
Extended contracts through the holidays are required. Contracts must be 22–26 weeks and must extend into January.
Schedule & Contract Details
- Contract: 22–26 weeks
- End date: Flexible, but contract must run into January
- Full-Time: 36 hours/week
- Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts
- Shift: Day or night; scheduled according to client needs
- Every Other Weekend (EOW): Required
- Holidays: Required
- On-Call: 2 on-call shifts per 4-week period
- Must be willing to work a D/E/N/W/Holiday rotational schedule as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients and families using clinical observation, technology, and interdisciplinary communication.
- Develop individualized, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant plans of care.
- Provide direct nursing care and administer medications and other interventions safely.
- Monitor patient responses and modify the plan of care based on changes in condition.
- Collaborate with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Promote and protect patient health, safety, rights, comfort, and dignity.
- Educate patients and families regarding self-care, discharge needs, lifestyle changes, and continued healing at home.
- Evaluate patient and family understanding and document education provided.
- Delegate appropriate tasks consistent with staff education, training, and scope of practice.
- Follow infection-prevention practices and maintain compliance with safety requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement and professional development activities.
- Foster a trusting, caring relationship with patients and families and contribute to a healing environment.
- Float between departments and locations when appropriately oriented to the applicable patient population.
Required Qualifications
- Active NYS RN License
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification – AHA only
- NIHSS certification
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient-care skills.
- Ability to care for adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations.
