Description

JD – Registered Nurse (RN) – In-School Nurse

Mississippi Valley School in Hannibal, MO is seeking a qualified RN to provide on-site nursing services to students during the school day. The RN will provide direct nursing care, monitor students with chronic or complex medical needs, administer medications and treatments, respond to medical emergencies, and maintain accurate student health documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing assessments, monitoring, and direct care to students.
  • Monitor students with disabilities and complex healthcare needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and nursing standards.
  • Support students with conditions such as seizures, diabetes, respiratory conditions, feeding tubes, catheterization needs, and mobility limitations.
  • Respond to illnesses, injuries, seizures, allergic reactions, respiratory issues, and other emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate nursing documentation and student health records.
  • Follow medication administration, infection-control, emergency-response, and student-safety procedures.
  • Communicate with teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, healthcare providers, and the student care team.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and follow school and Missouri nursing policies.
  • Complete required orientation and training.

Requirements:

  • Active RN license valid for practice in Missouri.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Strong clinical assessment and emergency-response skills.
  • Ability to provide nursing care to school-aged students, including students with disabilities and complex medical needs.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a school environment.
  • Previous school nursing or pediatric nursing experience preferred.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–3:15 PM, approximately 35 hours/week.
