Shift: 7p-7a, 12 hours shift

Expected Hours - 36 hours a week ( 3 days a week)

Job Type: Contract ( 13 weeks + possible extensions)

Note:- Pay range for a local nurse is $63/hour - $66/hour

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Cardiac ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a specialized pediatric cardiac intensive care team. This role is ideal for an experienced critical care nurse with a strong background caring for children with complex congenital heart disease and critically ill cardiac patients.

The Pediatric Cardiac ICU is an 8–12 bed unit caring for complex and high-acuity pediatric patients, including post-operative congenital cardiac patients, heart failure, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy, and patients requiring advanced cardiac support such as Berlin Hearts and HeartMate III.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric cardiac patients in an intensive care setting.
• Care for patients with complex congenital cardiac disease, heart failure, myocarditis, and cardiomyopathy.
• Provide post-operative care for pediatric patients following complex congenital cardiac procedures.
• Perform and interpret invasive hemodynamic monitoring and recognize changes in patient condition.
• Manage patients requiring mechanical ventilation and other advanced respiratory support.
• Safely administer and titrate vasoactive and inotropic medications according to patient condition and provider orders.
• Monitor patients receiving commonly used cardiac ICU drips and respond promptly to changes in hemodynamic status.
• Provide care for patients with advanced mechanical circulatory support, including Berlin Hearts and HeartMate III, as applicable.
• Manage patients with tracheostomies and complex respiratory needs.

• Provide care for patients using various ventilatory and respiratory support equipment, including conventional ventilators, trachs, Cervos, LTVs, high-frequency ventilation, and occasional home ventilators.

   

Required Qualifications

• Current Virginia or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• 2–5 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience required.
• Recent experience caring for high-acuity pediatric cardiac patients.
• BLS certification required.
• PALS certification required.
