Looking for a travel assignment that combines a consistent daytime schedule with an incredible destination? This MRI Technologist opportunity in St. George, Utah offers four 10-hour day shifts per week, 40 hours guaranteed, and no scheduled weekends.

🧲 Position Overview

The MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI examinations while maintaining exceptional image quality, patient safety, and efficient workflow. The technologist works closely with radiologists to select appropriate scanning techniques and protocols and must demonstrate strong knowledge of MRI safety, cross-sectional anatomy, positioning, contrast administration, and MRI equipment operation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI examinations according to established department protocols.
  • Verify patient identification and physician orders before examinations.
  • Prepare, position, and educate patients throughout the MRI procedure.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and positioning techniques.
  • Select appropriate MRI scanning techniques and protocols in collaboration with radiologists.
  • Review and critique images to ensure diagnostic quality and appropriate anatomical coverage.
  • Administer IV gadolinium contrast under physician/radiologist supervision and according to established protocols.
  • Operate MRI scanners and related imaging/information systems safely and effectively.
  • View, manipulate, transfer, and archive electronic images.
  • Troubleshoot MRI equipment and understand proper scanner startup and shutdown procedures.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the MRI magnet, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, computer hardware, and software.
  • Understand and follow MRI Quench procedures and emergency response protocols.
  • Follow the MRI Four-Zone safety concept and all applicable MR safety policies.
  • Maintain patient safety during routine procedures and MRI emergencies.
  • Complete accurate documentation, including timestamps, image storage, consents, and procedure-related events.
  • Follow appropriate medical-necessity, coding, charging, and quality-control procedures.
  • Maintain applicable ACR quality-control standards.
  • Identify and report equipment failures or operational issues.
  • Follow infection-control and sterile-technique standards.


✅ Requirements

Required:

  • Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience.
  • Active ARRT registration.
  • ARRT(R)(MR) or ARRT(MR) certification required.
  • BLS – AHA certification required.
  • Strong understanding of MRI safety protocols and the Four-Zone concept.
  • Demonstrated competency in MRI equipment operation and electronic imaging.
  • Knowledge of contrast administration protocols.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.


📋 Important Licensing Note

Utah state licensure is not required for this MRI Tech position if the technologist holds an active ARRT(MR) credential, as the role involves administration of MR contrast (gadolinium) under applicable protocols.
