Hospital-Based Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) – Nurse Practitioner
Location: Columbia, MO
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) / Nurse Practitioner to join a dedicated Hospitalist team at a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) in Columbia, Missouri.
This position is ideal for a provider who enjoys caring for medically complex patients in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. With an average patient stay of 25–30 days, you'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients while playing an important role in their recovery.
Position Summary
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care in accordance with hospital standards to deliver efficient, effective, and high-quality care. The APRN provides advanced nursing care to medically complex and critically ill patients while practicing within the scope of the Collaborative Practice Agreement and State Board of Nursing regulations. Candidates must demonstrate the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to the patients served.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct advanced nursing care to a selected population of medically complex patients.
- Deliver advanced practice care to critically ill and medically complex patients.
- Assess, manage, and coordinate care for patients with complex medical conditions requiring advanced nursing skills.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized plans of care.
- Collaborate closely with hospitalists, specialists, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary care teams.
- Integrate clinical practice, patient education, consultation, and evidence-based practice to enhance patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
- Practice in accordance with hospital policies, state regulations, and the Collaborative Practice Agreement.
Qualifications
- Post Graduate Degree in Nursing w/clinical specialization preparation to function in an expanded role.
- APRN license in Missouri, with specialty certification from a national certifying organization recognized by the State Board of Nursing and a certificate of recognition from the State Board of Nursing.
- 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred, ideally in Critical Care, Hospital Medicine, or another acute care setting.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Current ACLS certification required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making abilities.
- Detail-oriented, team-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
