Registered Dietitian (RD) – Clinical

Shift: Day Shift
Work Setting: On-site
Requirement: EPIC experience required
Floating: Must be willing to float as needed throughout the Kern County Network, including AHTV, AHBD, and AHSB.

Position Summary

The Registered Dietitian provides comprehensive nutritional care to patients and residents with specialized nutritional needs or those identified as being at nutritional risk. The role involves patient assessment, development of individualized nutrition care plans, patient and family education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and accurate clinical documentation.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, effective communication skills, and the ability to provide safe, evidence-based nutritional care in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct nutritional assessments and reassessments based on patient needs and established standards.
• Develop and implement individualized nutritional plans of care.
• Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and families.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Monitor patient nutritional status and make appropriate recommendations.
• Document assessments, interventions, and follow-up care accurately in EPIC.
• Provide clinical nutrition care in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards.
• Float between designated facilities within the Kern County Network as needed.
• Utilize appropriate clinical decision-making and technical skills to provide high-quality patient care.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutrition or equivalent – Required
• Master’s Degree – Required only if eligibility for examination began on or after 01/01/2024
• Dietetic Internship or equivalent – Required
• Clinical Dietitian experience – Preferred
• Previous healthcare or hospital experience – Preferred
• EPIC experience – Required

Licenses/Certifications:

• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential – Required
• Candidates completing a residency program must obtain RD status within 6 months of completion.
