TEMP TO PERM - RN Hospice Director/Administrator - This role is based in a clinical and office environment and may involve patient care. - JOB SUMMARY: The Hospice Director/Administrator plans, directs, and supervises all operations and patient care activities of the Hospice Department. This position oversees compliance, quality management, staffing, fiscal planning, and public relations while ensuring the delivery of compassionate, high-quality end-of-life care. The Administrator works collaboratively with hospital leadership, physicians, and staff to achieve strategic goals and ensure regulatory compliance. - Education, License, and Certification: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Completion of an additional 16 hours of hospice-specific administrative education within 12 months of hire required. - Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience: Two years’ experience in hospice administration preferred. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Department Leadership and Operations: o Direct all day-to-day activities of the department and ensure quality hospice services. o Develop strategic plans, set goals, and monitor performance outcomes. o Maintain regulatory compliance and ensure policies and procedures are current with state and federal regulations. o Serve as the liaison between hospice and hospitals, healthcare agencies, and the community. o Provide direct patient care when needed and ensure the highest standards of patient services. • Clinical Leadership & Patient Care Oversight o Provide clinical leadership as the responsible RN leader for hospice services; ensure care delivery aligns with hospice philosophy, patient/family needs, and interdisciplinary plans of care. o Provide direct patient care when needed and ensure high standards of patient services. o Ensure adequate exchange of information and communication among personnel providing services; support mechanisms for patient/family communication and feedback. • Staff Management and Development: o Interview, hire, and train staff; conduct performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as necessary. o Oversee staffing and scheduling to meet departmental needs. o Support staff development and continuing education. o Maintain accurate and timely payroll/timecard records in accordance with FLSA guidelines. • Financial and Quality Oversight: o Formulate, manage, and monitor the department’s annual budget. o Oversee billing reconciliation, medication discrepancies, and charge management. o Lead performance improvement initiatives and monitor department quality metrics. o Ensure licensed personnel operate within their defined scope of practice. • Community Engagement and Public Relations: o Develop and implement a marketing plan to promote hospice services. o Represent Uvalde Hospice at community events, health fairs, open houses, and professional meetings. o Maintain relationships with community clergy, faith groups, and organizations to support patient needs. o Keep the Board of Directors informed of hospice activities and outcomes. • Organizational and Regulatory Compliance: o Participate in and lead committees as assigned. o Appoint a qualified alternate in case of absence. o Complete all mandatory training related to hospice administration, including topics such as fraud prevention, client rights, disaster planning, and infection control.
