Travel Histology Technician (HT)
Contract: 13 Weeks
Shift: Days
Schedule: 5×8-hour shifts
Hours: 40 hours/week
Certification: ND Histotechnologist Certificate
BLS: AHA BLS Required
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Histology Technician (HT) to join the laboratory team. The Histology Technician prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examination and assists pathologists and other laboratory professionals in the diagnosis of diseases and medical conditions.
Responsibilities
- Receive, identify, accession, and prepare tissue specimens for processing
- Perform routine tissue processing, fixation, dehydration, clearing, and paraffin embedding
- Cut tissue sections using microtomes
- Prepare high-quality slides for microscopic examination
- Perform routine and special histological staining procedures
- Maintain proper specimen identification and documentation throughout the testing process
- Operate, clean, and maintain histology laboratory equipment
- Monitor staining quality and troubleshoot technical issues
- Follow established laboratory procedures, quality-control standards, and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate laboratory records
- Follow infection-control and chemical safety procedures
- Assist pathologists and laboratory staff with specimen preparation and diagnostic workflow
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Histology Technician (HT)
- AHA BLS certification required
- ND Histotechnologist Certificate required
- Strong knowledge of histology laboratory procedures
- Experience with tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Strong attention to detail and specimen identification accuracy
